Free import:
1. If being 18 years or older: 400 cigarettes up to a value of AED 2,000.- and cigars up to a value of AED 3,000.- and 2 kilograms of tobacco (except snuffing or chewing tobacco);
2. Perfumes or gifts for personal use, up to a value of AED 3,000.-;
3. If being 18 years or older: alcoholic beverages for non-muslim passengers only), in:
a. Abu Dhabi: 4 liters of any kind of alcohol or 2 cartons of beer (each consisting of 24 cans, not exceeding 355 ml for each can or its equivalent);
b. Dubai: 4 liters of any kind of alcohol or 24 cans of beer;
c. Fujairah: 4 liters of any kind of alcohol;
d. Sharjah: 4 liters of wine or spirits or 48 cans of beer;
4. Medicines with a doctor’s prescription for personal use with a max. of three months’ consumption.

– Prohibited:
1. Electronic cigarettes in checked baggage.
2. All fresh foods such as fruit, vegetables, dairy products, fish, seafood, meat and food stuffs from Japan with validity period of less than 2 weeks. Foodstuffs, other than fresh foods, with validity exceeding 2 weeks is permitted, when accompanied by a Radiation Clearance Certificate issued by the Japanese Health Authorities.
3. All animal food that is not included in the food chain from China (People’s Rep.) due to an infection with the Hantavirus, until the health situation stabilizes.
4. Dubai: walkie talkies and pagers.
5. Abu Dhabi and Fujairah: Fruits and vegetables from cholera infected areas, cultivated pearls.
6. Dubai and Sharjah: uncooked edible seafood, fruits and vegetables from cholera infected areas.
7.Cloven-hoofed animals (sheep, goats, and cows), their untreated offal, semen, embryos, and eggs and unheat-treated sheep, goat, and cow meat from Hungary due to foot-and-mouth disease(FMD), until the health situation stabilizes.

Local currency (United Arab Em. Dirham-AED) and foreign currencies: allowed, however, cash, cheques and valuable metals and gemstones exceeding AED 60,000.- (or equivalent) must be declared. Declarations can be made before arrival via the TAMM or AFSEH App, or at the Customs Office (Financial Declaration Office) at the airport upon arrival.
To prevent the risk of Avian Influenza entering the country, the import of birds (and derived products) is prohibited from all Asian countries, Albania, Australia (Victoria state only), Austria, Bulgaria, Chile, Czechia, Egypt, France, Hungary, Iraq, Ireland (Rep.), Italy, Jordan, Latvia, Lebanon, Lithuania, Mexico, Moldova (Rep.), New Zealand, Norway, Panama, Peru, Poland, Russian Fed., Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, Syria, Tunisia, Turkiye and Uruguay and all other countries that may be affected by Avian Influenza.
Exempt are:
1. falcons imported from Austria, Bulgaria, Czechia, Hungary, Ireland (Rep.), Italy, Mexico, Moldova (Rep.), Norway, Poland, Slovakia or Sweden. The following conditions should be applied:
– before arrival: in the exporting country the falcons should be isolated for 21 days prior to export and this should be stated in an annex of veterinary health certificate.
– on arrival: the falcons will be physically examined to ensure they are free from any symptoms or diseases. An additional lab test will be conducted for Avian Influenza using PCR. For more information, contact U.A.E Ministry of Climate Change and Environment at www.moccae.gov.ae/.
2. personal import of ornamental birds, 5 birds per person annually, provided having:
A. a veterinary health certificate from the veterinary authorities in the country of export stating the following:
– the birds had been isolated under veterinary supervision for the 21 days prior to shipment and did not show any symptoms of epidemic or contagious diseases;
– the birds were examined using PCR technique and with negative results for bird flu after 14 days of the isolation period, accompanied by a copy of the laboratory examination certificate;
B. CITES certificates issued by the ministry and the country of export for the species that fall under the appendices of the CITES Agreement.
