Free import of:
1. Tobacco products:
– 200 cigarettes;
– 50 cigars;
– 10 individual packages of heated tobacco products;
– 250 grams of other kinds of tobacco or a combination.
2. Alcohol: 3 bottles of alcoholic beverages (of about 0.760 litre each).
3. Perfume: 2 ounces (about 56 ml).
4. Gifts and souvenirs: up to JPY 200,000.-;
5. Gold bullion (not less than 90% purity) up to max. 1 kilogram;
6. Personal effects.
Prohibited:
1. narcotic drugs, except those designated by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare Ordinance, see www.mhlw.go.jp/english/;
2. obscene or immoral materials.
Restrictions:

Local currency (Japanese Yen – JPY) and foreign currencies: unlimited. However, amounts exceeding JPY 1,000,000.- must be declared on arrival.
The import of certain endangered species of plant, live animals and their products is prohibited or restricted under CITES. For further details please refer to CITES: www.cites.org.
Restrictions:
1. Plants, parts of plants and fruit must be presented to the plant quarantine officer.
